Primary Room 2020

Our primary room turned out really cute this year. Unfortunately, we haven’t spent much time in it because of COVID-19. Today is August 10 and we haven’t been to church since March 15. I don’t know if we’ll get to go back at all this year. It’s been a bummer. I miss my primary kids.

This is the music board to help the kids see their progress on the primary program songs. Once all of the notes get to the right hand side, they will be ready for the program! Sadly, there will be no program this year because of the pandemic.

The primary room turned out so cute this year. We again ordered from The Redheaded Hostess. I love the come follow me theme and the focus on our Savior. It’s a happy room for my beautiful primary kids!

Here’s the primary room from 2018! I bought the bundle by Courtney Aitken from The Redheaded Hostess. The theme was I Am a Child of God. The program was amazing! They sang a beautiful new song called I Will Be What I Believe. All of the kids wrote their own parts either on their own or with the help of parents, teachers, or Jamie Matthews so we got to hear all of their testimonies.

The board with President Nelson was an announcement board and the board with the knight was our spotlight board. Each month we spotlighted a person who could lead us, guide us and walk beside us. Those people are heroes because they teach us how to find Christ and to choose the right!

I may or may not have read any books in 2017. I really can’t remember. I’m trying to read more this year so now I’m in a book club:)

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime by Mark Haddon (I read this about 14 years ago but liked it the second time too)

Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Stout

The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein

Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline (I read this a few years ago and loved it just as much the second time!)

Grandma Gatewood’s Walk by Ben Montgomery

Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford

Surprise Me by Sophie Kinsella

News of the World by Paulette Jiles

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith

I didn’t post ANYTHING in 2017! It just flew by! These are the only pictures I have of our cute “Choose the Right” bulletin boards from 2017. The banner is from Courtney Aitken. It was a transportation theme. We had a cute street sign on the front bulletin board. The road went all the way around to the front of the room, ending at the temple. One bulletin board had a world map. That was our “primary pen pal” board. We wrote to other primaries telling them how we choose the right and asked them to write back to us. We received letters and pictures from St. George; Orem; Georgia; Athens, Greece; and Istanbul, Turkey. I really wish I had remembered to take pictures of the rest of the boards. Oh well!IMG_2185IMG_2186IMG_2187

The quilt with the hand prints was for a man in the ward who’s in the hospital. His wife is a primary teacher. (Love her!).  The handprints are from the primary children. It didn’t turn out as nice as I would have liked it to but it’s cute. We used an iron on to put a message in the blank square.

I love the zigzag quilt. It was for a friend who had a new baby boy. I love it so much I’m going to do another one (or two…).

My sewing machine needs to go into the shop. Hopefully I’ll get it back soon!

I am really good at starting projects and really bad at finishing them.  I started this 8 week quilt along in 2010 and finished it last night (2015, yikes!).  It is far from perfect but I have to say I LOVE IT.  And IT’S DONE!  It can be found at twiddletails.blogspot.com.
